Nastia Liukin has represented the United States at three World Championships, the 2003 and 2007 Pan American Games, and the 2006 and 2008 Pacific Rim Championships. In October 2011, Liukin announced that she was returning to the sport of gymnastics with the hopes of making the 2012 Olympic team
Spurred on by the possibility of an Olympic return, Nastia Liukin performed on Day 2 of the Visa Nationals and fell—hard, face-first, likely causing irreparable damage to her reputation in the process.
